About the PRIYA Foundation and our children school in India:

A journey to magical and yet disturbingly impoverished India touched Caroline Meyer so deeply that it inspired her to start a jewelry project involving local craftspeople and gave her creative work a meaningful purpose. To accomplish her vision, Caroline Meyer established in 2005 the PRIYA Foundation, a charitable Swiss foundation, to finance and support the building, maintenance and administration of schools for children in India. The PRIYA Foundation receives 20% of the proceeds from both nana Jewelry Collections.





Thanks to this source of income and donations, the PRIYA Foundation provides the building of schools for the children. The PRIYA Foundation also covers the necessary monthly living expenses of the children as well as all maintenance and administrative costs of the school. The PRIYA Foundation representatives are located in both Switzerland and India and work entirely on a voluntary basis. This guarantees the efficient usage of the PRIYA Foundation funds. In addition, Caroline Meyer personally visits several times every year the location where the PRIYA Foundation is active to ensure the progress of the foundation’s project.




 

Project :
We started our project to build a new building for school children in Laxman Jhula (northern India) in January 2006. Our aim was to create a school and living quarters for 350 children and to give them the gift of basic education. After two long years and thanks to the dedication and hard work of all those involved, we have achieved our goal: the school building and the living quarters are finishe! In October 2007 the 350 children were finally able to move into their new home and now attend school every day. Maintenance costs for food, clothes, teachers, doctors etc. are CHF 300 per child per year.
